A meme built on clips of an elderly woman from a mountain village in western China — TikTok user @yiyecanling, widely called 「Grandma Yan」 — singing folk songs straight to camera. A sped-up edit posted in April 2026 passed 55.6M views and carried the clip well beyond Chinese-language platforms. She is heard singing two songs: 越来越好 (Yue Lai Yue Hao) and the Yunnan folk song 弥渡山歌 (Mi Du Shan Ge). Editors use the footage as a brainrot template over other content, or mash the audio up with popular tracks.
